Artist Statement: Hello there! I’m Chentel (shen-tell) but I usually go by DreamsBeyond online. I’m a mix-media artist born and raised in San Angelo,Tx. I’m currently pursuing my BFA at Angelo State University, and I will be graduating in the Fall of 2023. I have participated in projects with fellow peers at ASU. One of them was a floral mural at Paint Brush Alley thanks to the awesome people at Art in Uncommon Places. I have also had the opportunity to show my work around town with my fellow peers and friends with ASU’s Friday Art Club! I have also sold my work at comic and fandom based conventions such as San Angelo Comic Con and much more to come!

My inspirations usually derive from my interests such as, animation, comics, horror, films, and early nostalgia. I’m currently in the process of experimentation for I tend to enjoy drawing characters and people or fanart whenever I can, especially if the said character is from a videogame, movie, or show I enjoy! Media is what I gravitate towards for I deeply admire the power of storytelling. This has played a huge role in my work since most of the pieces I enjoy have to have an element of a certain piece of media I adore. Soon, I want to experiment with creating comics because I also have a love for writing characters as well. Some of my current goals are to establish my art business and to also create my first graphic novel. Aside from games, I like to collect things, drink tea, and watch movies. I hope that my work will help others feel a sense of comfort whether it be through the odd or familiar. My favorite mediums include, but are not limited to: graphite, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, collage, and now digital!
