Cristie Bagwell
About Cristie:
In my mid 20’s I loved my watercolor lessons. Then began years as a school teacher until retirement. I knew that painting with watercolors was my “North Star.”
I have become adept at mixing paint colors if needed to arrive at beautiful combinations. I naturally give importance to colors that “pop,” or no toned down color choices for me. Good Art instruction emphasizes choosing from several color schemes-
Split complementary, complimentary, triadic, double complementary, semi triadic complementary…well, you get the idea that I use the color wheel as a color foundation.
I have a foundation as an Art minor in my college studies. I plan the preparation using the elements of art. My goal is not just to drop beautiful colors on paper space but rather to arrive at quality composition— with colors that “pop.”
My expression journey includes landscapes, water (both still and flowing), and florals. Teaching support on this journey comes in part, from viewing fine art as I’ve traveled to many states. The Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Eureka Springs , Arkansas was an inspiration. Here, the original, famous artwork of American artists is on display. In addition, galleries visited include Georgia O'Keeffe's gallery in Santa Fe and The Adobe Art Gallery in Ruidoso, New Mexico. I will never forget the Monet exhibit at the Kendall in Ft. Worth. I greatly benefit from seeing San Angelo’s en plein air artists and their highly talented art. All of these (and other displays) serve my artist’s “eye” to observe and learn.
